Men of great vision and community commitment, Gaby DaRosa and Ayres Gonzales were prominent figures in the founding and leadership of the Bisca Tournament Club in New Bedford (USA), a space that has become a symbol of unity, sharing and appreciation of Cape Verdean culture.
Mr. Gabriel DaRosa, founder and president of the Associação Escola Materna Nossa Senhora da Graça, was an example of altruism and leadership. Driven by the desire to contribute to the development of his land, he created an educational space that continues to serve the children of Brava with love and dedication.
Mr. Ayres Gonzales, also an active member of the Escola Materna and successor to the presidency of the Bisca Club, stood out for his spirit of solidarity and the warm way in which he brought people together. Proud of his roots, he always kept the Bravense flame alive, carrying the island's name with dignity and affection.
The Brava City Council pays tribute to the memory of these two exemplary citizens, who, through their work, strengthened the ties between Brava and the diaspora, inspiring generations to value their origins and serve the community with love and commitment.
To the bereaved families, friends and the Bravense community in the United States, we express our deepest condolences, wishing them comfort in this time of deep sorrow.
May their souls rest in peace.
